The art museum is located in the colony governor's residence and was built in 1923. The building was designed by Boysen Møller.

The museum opened in 1995 and on the ground floor there is permanently exhibited approx. 50 works by Emanuel A. Petersen.

On the 1. St floor there are 5-8  different exhibitions a year. It is artists from all over the world ... and Greenland that unfolds there.

In addition to the museum there is also a small residence (artist in residence) where artists-writers-photographers etc. may stay for shorter periods.

Since 2007 a group of amateur’s artists have met at the museum (Wednesday evening) and inspired themselves in the beautiful rooms, while painting.
